OUR MISSION

To ensure that people are treated equally and fairly before the law by educating policymakers and the public about the importance of civil legal aid in our communities and advocating for sufficient public funding for civil legal aid on behalf of low income people living in Washington State.

WHO WE ARE

The Equal Justice Coalition (EJC) is a non-partisan non-profit organization working statewide and nationally to ensure that all people are treated equally and fairly before the law.

Established in 1995 to serve as a strong bipartisan voice to protect and promote expanded federal and state civil legal aid funding, the Equal Justice Coalition has and continues to effectively promote the importance of equal justice - and essential funding for civil legal aid - to elected officials at the federal, state and local level. The EJC's success at increasing resources for civil legal aid is made possible by building and sustaining a strong base of support within the legal community and beyond.

Since 1995, the EJC has been a standing committee of the Washington Supreme Court's Access to Justice Board.

The EJC is comprised of an Advisory Council, a core volunteer WorkGroup, and hundreds of member organizations, and thousands of individual Friends of Equal Justice who know that the health of our democracy depends on the equal justice for all.

In 2007, the EJC received the American Bar Association Award for its Grassroots Advocacy.
